Improved Inventory Checking

Near end of year it really can get tough when checking inventory. We have quite some thousand bin locations: Taking stock is a chore when collecting countings by Excel and paper, let alone transferring those data to the ERP system. This app really saves time and is easy to handle. At our recent checking we used it on Android handhelds with an built-in laser barcode scanner. Simply “shoot” storage bin and article, and enter the quantity using the ten-key pad. The name of our counters we entered using the touch screen – as you know it from using smartphones.

Beforehand the artices from our ERP were transferred to the devices by be-team, and after inventory checking they uploaded the countings to inventory documents in the ERP. During inventory checking the takings are continually transferred to the server^*, so it is easy to spot stock differences early. There were no issues with the Wi-Fi network, because the devices collect data even in remote areas of the warehouse and send it to the server automatically as soon as it is accessible. You simply don’t have to care about network connectivity.

Out in the warehouse counting was swift, and in the backoffice no tedious data entry was needed. Inventory will not become our favorite occupation, but using this App we are quickly through with that duty now.
